The following requirements must be met to be eligible to enter the TIR program in the content area of Mathematics.
Requirement One: 24 semester hours
OR
Requirement Two: Passing of the PLACE test #04 or the PRAXIS test # 10061
Both requirements; however, must be completed prior to the program completion in two years.
1. Number Systems, Number Theory,
Algebraic Structures (6 sh)
Examples: Linear Algebra, Modern
Algebra, Complex Variables, Number
Theory, Discrete Mathematics
Algorithms, Trig
2. Calculus and Analysis, Functions (6sh)
Examples: Differential Equations,
Calculus I, II, III, Modern Analysis I, II,
Estimation, Convergence & Approximation
3. Geometry and Measurement (3sh)
Examples: Higher Geometry
4. Statistics and Probability (3sh)
Examples: Statistics for the Sciences,
Introduction to Probability & Statistics
5. Mathematical Modeling OR
History of Mathematics (3sh)
Examples: Stochastic Modeling,
Mathematical Modeling
And an additional 3sh may be in any of the above content areas
