Instructional Technology K-12

The following requirements must be completed to become licensed to teach in the content area of Instructional Technology:

·     must have 30 semester hours (sh) of coursework or equivalent documented life experience in the categories listed below

·     equivalent documented work experience may be substituted for up to 15 sh

·     must have 3 semester hours coursework or work experience in categories 1-6; category 7 is optional

·     Category 7 is optional and may have no more than 3 sh (either coursework or life experience) counted toward total                                                                                                             

1.       Data Structures, Languages, Databases (3 semester hours) ( C++, Visual Basic, Cobol, Fortran, Assembly, Database Program/Design, Fortran Programming, Assembly Language Pro, Data Structures, Programming Languages, Compiler Structure, Fundamental Computer Programming, COBOL, Logic and Program Design, JAVA Programming, Advanced Programming Tech)

2.       Web Based Programming/Design  (3 semester hours) (HTML, Java, Flash, Hypermedia, Frontpage, DreamWeaver, Introduction to the Internet, Distance Education, Developing Online Applications, HTML Programming, Web Programming, The Internet: Concepts and Applications) 

3.       Knowledge of Operating Systems (3 semester hours)  (Windows, UNIX, Linux, MAC OSX, Mini/Mainframe sys, Operating Systems Design, Intro to Operating Systems, )

4.       Knowledge/Skill in Networks (3 semester hours) (Data/Telcom Comm, WAN/LAN, Servers, Web Servers, Telephony, Video/Interact Net, Cisco Cert. Novell, NT networks, MAC OSX)

5.       System Design, Implementation, Management (3  semester hours) (Systems Analysis, Systems Management, Data Applications, Technical Doc/Writing, Systems Integration, Technology Policy, Computer Software System, Operations Research, Computer Management Information Systems, Structured Analysis/Design, Computers and Information Processing, Fundamentals of Business Systems Development, Business Systems Development II, Systems Testing and Quality Assurance Tech)

6.       Knowledge/Skill of Applications/Programs

  1. Introduction to Technology (3  semester hours) (Intro to Computer Concepts, Computer Science or Computer Applications; MS Office; Access; Survey of Systems; Applications and Issues in Technology; Personal Computers; Intro to MS Programs; Presentation tools)
  1. Productivity Tools (3  semester hours) (Desktop Publishing, Internet Applications, Assistive Techn, Multimedia, Data Applications)

7.    Other Uses/Applications/Instruction (3  semester hours) (Instructional Design, Course Instruction/Training, Robotics, File Management, Assessment Systems, Internet Based Research) Instructional Telecommunications, Multimedia Learning Environments, Intro to Ecommerce, CAD , Music through Technology, Multimedia Design, Introduction to Educational Technology, Instructional Materials Design, Computers in Education

        PLACE Assessment #51 must be passed.

ü       Responsible for design and development of custom software

ü       Developing algorithms

ü       Experience coding computer systems

ü       Expertise in Visual Basic

ü       Maintained existing COBOL systems

Databases

ü       Database Design

ü       Developing database systems to track jobs

ü       Developing an operating system

ü       Utilized SQL and Oracle database

ü       Maintained Access databases

Web-Based Computing

ü       Internet navigation and research

ü       Intranet Website

ü       Designed or Developed website

ü       Managed websites

ü       Support of ebusiness

ü       Utilized Javascript

 Operating Systems

ü       Experience on resume with the any of the following: Microsoft Windows, Unix, or any other operating system.

Networks/Network Systems

ü       Maintaining office computer network systems

ü       Experience installing and maintaining Local and Wide Area Networks

 Systems Design, Implementation, Management

ü       Responsible for establishing computer standards department

ü       Information Technology Manager

Intro to Computers

ü       Experience with the following: Excel, Microsoft Word, Quark Express,

Other Tech. Based Courses, Technology Instruction

ü       Reengineering of hardware circuit and associated software

ü       Real-time conferencing

ü       Technology Coordinator or Technology Instructor

ü       Designed Instructional Technology Materials

ü       Train employees in computer skills
