Foreign Language K-12

The following requirements must be met to be eligible to enter the TIR program in the content area of Foreign Language.

Requirement One: 24 semester hours (A maximum of 6 credits MAY be approved for Life Experience)

OR

Requirement Two: Passing of the PLACE test corresponding to the endorsement sought (French #08, German #10, Italian #11, Japanese #15, Latin #12, Russian #14, Spanish #09)

Both requirements; however, must be completed prior to the program completion in two years.

• Foreign Language (12sh)

Examples: Phonology, Conversation, Listening, Linguistics, Grammar, Composition in language being sought

• Literature (6sh)

Literature read in the Foreign Language being sought

• Culture of language and region, Customs & lifestyle of native speakers (6sh)
