Documented evidence (from transcripts) of 24 credits of college level coursework from a regionally accredited college or university in each of the areas listed below:

Foreign Language (12 credits)
phonology, conversation, listening,
linguistics, grammar, composition
in the language being sought
Literature (6 credits)
Literature read in language area of endorsement
Culture of language and region, Customs & lifestyle of
native speakers (6 credits)
history, art, music, culture of language being sought
Life Experience may not be substituted for credits

OR
Passing of the PLACE test #08 French, #10 German, #11 Italian, #15 Japanese, #12 Latin, #14 Russia, #09 Spanish
If using credits (only) to qualify you must have a minimum GPA of 2.6

NOTE: DISTRICTS REQUIRE THAT CANDIDATES PASS THE PLACE TEST PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.
