PLACE And PRAXIS II Tests

Individuals interested in applying for the Two Year Alternative Program, formerly known as the Pikes Peak BOCES/UCCS Teacher-in-Residence Program (TIRP) must take and pass a test in their content area OR meet the 24 credit requirement before being eligible for the program. For example, an individual desiring a Math teacher license must take the Math content test. When the test has been passed a copy of the test score must accompany the application packet if you have taken the test. If you are qualifying with 24 credits only and pass the test at a later time your score can be faxed to the office at 380.6250 at that time.
The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) will accept either the PRAXIS II or the PLACE test as fulfilling the requirement for a content assessment depending on which content area you are interested in. CDE will accept all PLACE tests, but only some from PRAXIS II (please see below). The PRAXIS II TEST can only be taken for those candidates desiring a teacher license in the areas of English, Math, Social Studies, Science or Elementary. (The test numbers for the PRAXIS II tests are:

- 10014 Elementary Education/Early Childhood Education
- 10061 Mathematics
- 10435 Science
- 10081 Social Studies
